Microneedling FAQ'S
Following treatment, your skin may appear pink or red, similar to a mild sunburn, for 24-48 hours. You may also experience slight dryness, tightness, or flaking for 3-5 days as your skin begins its healing process. Most patients return to work and normal activities the next day, and you can apply makeup after 24 hours. The body immediately begins healing the micro-channels by producing more collagen and elastin, resulting in smoother, firmer, more youthful-looking skin over the following weeks and months.
You'll notice an immediate glow from increased circulation, but the real magic happens over time. Within 2-3 weeks, you'll see improved texture and tone. Over the next 4-6 months, as collagen production ramps up, you'll see continued improvements in fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, pore size, and overall skin quality. Results are cumulative—each treatment builds upon the last for progressively better outcomes.
Most patients need 3-6 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart for optimal results. For mild concerns like fine lines or texture, 3 treatments may suffice. For deeper acne scars, significant sun damage, or advanced aging, 6 or more sessions may be recommended. Maintenance treatments every 6-12 months help sustain your results. During your consultation, we'll create a personalized treatment plan based on your specific concerns and goals.
We apply a topical numbing cream 30 minutes before treatment to minimize discomfort. Most patients describe the sensation as mild pressure or light scratching—not painful. Sensitivity varies by area (forehead and cheeks are less sensitive than around the nose or lips). The procedure is well-tolerated, and any discomfort is brief and manageable.
Immediately after, your skin will appear pink or red and may feel warm and tight, similar to a sunburn. This typically subsides within 24-48 hours. Days 3-5, you may experience light flaking or peeling as dead skin cells shed. Your skin will feel dry, so moisturizing frequently is essential. By day 7, most visible side effects resolve, and you'll notice your skin looking brighter and smoother. Over the following months, collagen remodeling continues, and results keep improving.
Side effects are minimal when performed by trained professionals. Common temporary reactions include redness, swelling, dryness, and flaking. Rarely, patients may experience bruising, pinpoint bleeding (petechiae), or temporary hyperpigmentation. Serious complications like infection or scarring are extremely rare with proper technique and aftercare. Following post-care instructions carefully minimizes risks and optimizes results.
